Itinerary    Zadar - Kornati - Zadar  ( 1 week )

An itinerary for the lovers of deserted anchorages.

You will start your cruise from Zadar to discover the marvellous archipelago of the Kornati. About 150 islands are situated on a surface of 300 square kilometers and form a national park.

Rare vegetation grows on steep cliffs that rise up perpendicular from a crystal-clear sea. The submarine flora and fauna are extremely rich with more than 350 species of plants and 300 species of animals.

Day 1     Zadar

Zadar is the biggest town in the north of Dalmatia. Protected by one of the most stretched out archipelagos in the Mediterranean where innumerable islands are to be discovered. For centuries due to her exceptional geographic position Zadar has played a major strategic role on the eastern Adriatic Coast. The historical centre of the town is built on a 'almost' island and there you can admire the fortifications that go back to Antiquity.

Day 2      Telascica (32 miles)

The 10 km long bay of Telascica is protected from the open sea winds by steep cliffs, that are covered with lush mediterranean vegetation. The beauty of nature and the variety of fauna create a major touristic attraction. The national park also includes the lake of Mir, which is separated from the sea by the cliff of Grpascak, the longest one in the Adriatic (10 km). During summer the water of the lake is 6 degrees warmer than the sea water !

Day 3     Zirje (28 miles)

Zirje is the biggest island of the archipelago and is renowned for its crystal-clear water and also as a cultural and historical site.

Numerous islets are to be discoverd at short sailing distance.

Day 4        Skradin (19 miles)

Skradin is a small, charming village located along the river Krka, which runs into the sea a bit further down.

You might have the impression of being in a sea diversion, like there are so many along the Adriatic coast, but some cane growing on the river bank indicates the presence of fresh water.

Do not miss to have a swim in the waterfalls of the river Krka.

There is something magic about this place. Right in the middle of vegetation the water spouts up in a bubbling, chaotic stream. You will be able to witness a sumptuous spectacle due to the unstable, carstic river bed, carrying away sediments that provoke natural barriers and transform the landscape unceasingly.

A nicely constructed way allows you to walk along the river and enjoy this most unusual landscape.

Day 5         Betina (28 miles)

A picturesque village south- west of the island of Murter.

Day 6       Iz Veli (25 miles)

An island covered with fir and olive trees situated between Ugljan and Dugi otok in the archipelago of Zadar. Around Iž there are about 10 islets, the biggest are Knežak and Beli. The port Veli Iž is the most built-up area on the island.

Day 7      Zadar

Take the opportunity on your last day to sail along the islands facing Zadar.

Day 8       Disembarkation at 09.00 a.m.

If you have enough time before your departure, leave your luggage with the supervisor of the base and go and explore the streets of Zadar.

Zadar, a 300 years old town, used to be the capital of Dalmatia for many centuries. The Mainland Gate (Kopnena vrata), located to the east side of the town, has been built in 1543.

In Zadar you can admire the most beautiful Romanesque churches of Croatia. To name a few : the cathedral of Saint Anastasia, the church of Saint Chrysogone and the bell tower of Saint Mary (12th-13th century ).
