Itinerary  Marmaris – Karaca Sogut ( 1 week )

 

This is an itinerary that can be realized in one or two weeks. There are many interesting places to be visited, the wind is present most of the time and the anchorages are magnificent.

 

 

Day 1   Marmaris

Embarkation at 17.00 p.m.

Provisioning and check in.

 

 

Departure at the end of the afternoon to Kumlubuku, about 6 miles from Marmaris. Anchor below the ancient city of Amos, situated in the north of the bay below the cliff.

Or anchor for free in the small port of the restaurant 'Kumlubuku Yacht Club' ( very good restaurant ) in the south of the bay.

 

 

 

 

 

Day 2   Loryma

 

Sail up the channel between Rhodes and the Turkish coast : if there is any wind you will have to tack. Divide your journey in two parts and make a stop before the cliffs of Arap Adasi.

 

 

Continue in the afternoon direction Loryma.

 

 

Loryma is a magnificent bay, dominated at the entrance by an ancient fortress that is still untouched by time.

 

Two tavernas are at your disposal to have dinner in the evening.

 

Day 3   Symi

 

Make a short excursion to Greece and spend the evening in Symi, one of the most beautiful ports of the Dodecanese islands.

 

 

Upon your arrival in the port you will have to fulfill some formalities, it takes 20 minutes discover how Greek administration works, all takes place in a relaxing atmosphere.

 

 

Day 4   Cnidos

 

Anchorage at Cnidos, west of the almost island of Datca. The only place in the world where you can anchor in an authentic ancient port, just below the theatre which is located right in the middle of the ruins of the ancient city.

The first village is at 8km distance.

 

There is one taverna on the beach.

 

 

 

 

Day 5   Cokertme

 

A large bay surrounded and sheltered by mountains on the north coast of the gulf. There are some houses and 2 tavernas, where you will be able to fill up your water supplies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 6   Yedi Adalar

 

« The 7 islands  » where you will discover the anchorage you always wished for.

 

Be careful, the passages between the islands are not always very obvious, don’t forget to consult your map.

 

 

 

Day 7   Karaca Sogut

 

Last stop to discover Degirmen Buku : a large fjord sunk in wooded hills about 1 mile long.

 

In the back there is only one house, belonging to the President of the Republic ( he has good taste ) and two small tavernas.

 

There are many places to choose anchorage, shelter is perfect here.

 

 

Arrival at Karaca Sogut late in the afternoon.

 

 

There is no town here, two tavernas and some houses create one of the most beautiful bays in the gulf of Bodrum.

 

Day 8   Disembarkation at 09.00 a.m.

 

If you have time enough before your departure you can return to Marmaris, only at 1 ˝ hr distance from Karaca Sogut, and visit the bazaar there.
